World Peace Madonna?

Now that we are all on the same page that I do in fact have a soul let us proceed. I feel that I am not alone when I say that I am disappointed with Hollywood celebrities. After watching the Superbowl this Sunday Madonna definitely assured my views. Don't get me wrong, Madonna is and always will be a total badass!

Madonna's half time show during the Superbowl was centered around world peace. Now in life I was told you could either be a Tigger or an Eeyore.

Happy/Fun/Carefree/Hopeful

Despondent/Depressing/Pessimistic

But as much as I try to be a Tigger, in the case of world peace I'm an Eeyore...it will never happen.

Let me rephrase that, I will never happen without you. Each and everyone of us need to get involved. I feel that in order to achieve world peace we need to address the issues at "home" first. Not everyone can do their part by adopting an African kid....am I right?

By being born in Michigan Madonna should be well aware that her philanthropic duties should start in America first.

Somethings you should know about America:

• America sees the best and worst of everything.
• 1 in 6 Americans lives in poverty.
• 7,000 students drop out of High School everyday in America.
• 50+ million Americans are subsidized by the government.
• We rank 26 in the world for education.

America is too great of a place to see numbers like this. We can fix this. Yes, we can.

So basically what I am getting at is Americans are too set in their ways to achieve world peace.

These ways include:

• Laziness.
• Racism.
• Big trucks and alcohol.
• Instant gratification.
• Personal benefit.

For example the other day I received an invite from a friend asking for my help to give her money to go to Africa. While in Africa she was going to help the poor village and help fight diseases and on and on and on and on and on and on. 

Why would I give you money when in South Tucson kids can't read. They don't have the money to eat. When students at my former high school are on free or reduced lunch.  I think I will spare myself some money and fix my own community before charting into the unknown to fix problems of another world. 

Now remember when I said I have a soul. I really do. I feel for people in other countries but I as an American I owe my country time and money before others.

Believe me when I say that I know what happened in Haiti was a tragedy, but did we forget that the southeast part of USA is still in shambles from Hurricane Katrina, and Rita and are homeless and live day to day with the clothes on their back.

Oprah did you know that some kids that are educated in American schools can't point out Iraq on a globe?

Celebrities, with more than 75% of your fan base in America, aka the place that gave you your fame and success, give us a little love too.

In conclusion, I am going to make an effort to be better to my country this year.

These ways include:

• Voting in the next presidential election.
• Volunteering to help kids read at an elementary school, so they can enjoy books as much as I do.
• Cussing less.
• Praying more.
• Giving some money to worthy charities, aka Ronald McDonald House, Community Food Bank.
• Educating myself.

How and what can you do to make America better?

America the beautiful...I plan to keep you that way, in my lifetime, and for those after me.
