Great questions Lance. On August 26, 1920 our nation established the 19th amendment, granting us (women) the right to vote. I voted just two weeks ago by mail for Dave Sitton, a candidate that I believe has the most conviction, capacity, drive, sobriety, and presence to make a difference in Congress. I voted for my freedom, I voted to secure my border. I voted to make a difference. Now, the only problem with all of the things that I just listed are that not every other 19 year old female thinks this way. While I voted, proudly I might add, sadly others did not. If only women, especially young women understood the torture, torment, abuse, hatred, and failure that women faced during that time just to cast a vote, I believe that young women would have a passion for their country like I do. Voting has lost its meaning, lost its prestige, ultimately lost its value in modern America, especially for women.
I am all for women's rights, obviously I am a woman. I would not be standing here today without the sacrifice from women for generation. I am forever indebted to them. But just as when I watch a female sports caster sit next to former pro-players, or see that men still hold more Senate seats than women, it will take more time to fully be treated with the respect and notoriety that we deserve. Let's look at history, our first female speaker of the House (Nancy Pelosi) was just ousted by my political hero John Boehner a little over a year ago, and we didn't sign the Lilly Ledbetter Fair Pay Act till 2009, granting women equal pay for equal work regardless of gender.
"I sign this bill so that our daughters have the same rights, same chances, same opportunities to pursue their dreams as our sons do."
----President Barack H. Obama, remarks on Lilly Ledbetter Fair Pay Act
Women's rights have come a long way, but by no means am I satisfied. Women need to take ownership of the fact that we can walk down the street without wearing mandatory headdress in America, or the fact that unlike women around the world be do have a right to vote. We need to be that difference. We need to continue to fight for our freedoms ad prove ourselves to the world. Ultimately showing that women have the same drive if not more so to do the same jobs men can perform.
I have been following Washington politics since I was old enough to listen to my parents preach conservatism. I have publicly admitted to supporting and donating to Rick Santorum's campaign, whom does not support women's use of Birth Control. Well, with every great candidate his wife stands behind in the background along with many flaws. I disagree with Santorum's conviction to discourage women from using Birth Control. I am a firm believer that BC is a personal medication and also believe it will always be an in demand medication. It is a choice to take birth control, not a necessity. And it shouldn't be covered by government/insurance programs. Now, was it a males decision to make or express that statement, probably not, but if no one is going to stand up, who will be that difference.
Like millions of American's I watched Sandra Fluke's opening statement. To begin, get tissues for this "sob" story. I counted 20 disclaimers while watching this. Her argument that it is too expensive to pay for birth control when she is attending Georgetown Law School made me laugh out loud. Georgetown costs over $50,000 dollars a year. Reality check, prioritize--- your life! So you think it is a necessity for someone to pay for your [free] sex, not to mention that there aren't other forms of contraception on the market, Ms. Fluke.! I felt like she embarrassed herself . But as the world works the liberal media glamorized the 12 minute statement and she even landed a personal call from President Obama himself.
Birth Control = Choice, not right, and no one should pay for that choice except yourself.
Also I personally I believe that:
A human is granted rights from the moment of conception.
Thanks for your questions Lance.
Hope life is beautiful wherever you are.
